ABOUT THE WORK
‘VETKA / FOR PROSERPINE’ sketch ‘I’ was created in 2022 ahead a painting of the same name, which participated in the exhibition ABRACADABRA.
The work is inspired by the myth of Aeneas and the Golden Bough from the epic “Aeneid” by the poet Virgil.
It tells how, after the Trojan War, Aeneas left the destroyed city in search of a new, better life.
He arrived in Italy, where in the Temple of Apollo he met a witch who offered to fulfill his wish.
But to do this, Aeneas must find the golden branch. And he goes through the path, quests and tests, but finds an artifact.
And the branch was needed as an offering to the Goddess Proserpina, as a ticket for passage to the afterlife.
His desire is to see his father, who died in that war, for the last time.
This myth and the story with the branch are a concentration of strength and confidence, firm intention and belief that the impossible is possible if you try hard and put in the effort.
In recent paintings I have added gold elements with a nod to the gold rush. But not with a claim to greed, but with the fact that this is a phenomenon and a quest in which people give strength and sometimes even their lives in the hope that their existence is about to change for the better, for well-being.
The tiger’s eyes seem to be flooded gold and full of this hope. After all, the most valuable resource and true gold already exists within everyone, in what is dear to the heart.
And you don’t have to go to the ends of the earth to get this “gold”.

SPECIFICS OF STORAGE OF ORIGINALS
Regardless of the creation material, the original painting should always be perceived as something extremely fragile and delicate.
We always try to place graphic works as well as paintings created with water-based paints under glass, as these materials are the least wear-resistant, especially if they are painted on paper rather than canvas/wood panel.
As standard, each graphic work is fixed with a non-alkyd fixative and additional UV protection to extend its life.
Try not to hang the work in direct sunlight, find them a comfortable place in the house where they will not get much sun.

SHIPPING AND PACKAGING
Each small size original (up to 60 cm on the long side) is packed in air – bubble wrap with a stack of heavy cardboard on the glass side (if it is already decorated and there is glass).
Additionally, the originals are wrapped in black kraft paper, tied with black twine, sealed with a black wax seal with silver highlighting.
Small works can be sent by SDEK and Russian Post without any problems (however, for delivery within Russia, we recommend using SDEK).
Delivery of larger works requires a special approach to shipment and packaging because of the greater weight and volume, as well as a larger area of glazing.
If the painting is done in oil on a stretcher or on a wooden panel, it always needs additional protection of the paint layer and the structure of the base, in which case delivery is calculated separately, because. It will most likely be necessary to create a rigid box for a particular picture.
CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY
Original works are always accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, written in English with the features of the work and author’s signature.
